STEP 2: Strengths Portal
Once you have submitted Application Form, you will receive a link by email to the Strengths Portal where you will be asked to complete four assessments. Completing all four assessments allows you to demonstrate your capabilities in full.
You don’t have to complete all four assessments in a single sitting if you don’t want to, but you do need to complete them all. It is recommended to complete them within one day. After you complete it all, whatever the outcome, you will get a feedback report within 5 working days.
EY’s Online Assessment Tests consist of:
- EY Situational Strengths Test
- EY Business Behaviours Tests
- EY What’s Your Mindset Questionnaire
- EY Numerical Reasoning Test
- EY Verbal Reasoning Test
Strengths Portal 1
Both Situational Strengths and Business Behaviours Tests are specifically designed to give you a genuine insight into what working at EY would be like. You’ll face a variety of scenarios and will have to select (in order of preference) your responses from a list provided.
In Situational Strengths Test, you will be presented with 16 videos describing a specific situation related to some common work-related scenarios. You will then be required to identify how you would approach this problem by rating the possible answers from 1-5, based on the likelihood that you would undertake each action.
Business Behaviours Test is very similar to the EY Situational Strengths Test, but this time there will be no videos and your answers to each item will determine the following questions. After each question, you will be presented with 5 options and asked to rank them in order of how you are most and least likely to behave.

EY What’s Your Mindset Questionnaire
This online assessment test will focus on 5 main characteristics:
- attention to detail,
- ability to learn a new language,
- problem-solving proficiency,
- ability to concentrate,
- understanding of new technologies.
You will be presented with different descriptions and required to rank them according to which ones are most and least like you.
Tip: There is no right and wrong answer – but you need to be consistent in how you answer these questions. The test is designed to pick up on any inconsistencies and you will be penalised.
Strengths Portal 2
Verbal Reasoning Test is a timed test. Your speed, as well as your accuracy, will be measured. You will be presented with a series of questions that ask you to focus on grammar and pronunciation, as well as your comprehension of written material.
The Numerical test involves 12 questions and is set within a time recorded rather than the time-tested environment. You should take as long as you need to respond to the questions although note that your score will reflect both your accuracy and time taken.
All you have to do is a quick recap of basic GCSE calculations, such as ratios, percentages and reading data off charts. What makes EY’s numerical reasoning test difficult is not the knowledge tested, but how you reason with the information presented in the time limit under pressure involved. You will only have less than a minute to answer each question, so the best way to ensure that you do your utmost best is by practising numerical reasoning test questions; this way, you will familiarise yourself with typical questions and become more comfortable which will help to increase your confidence.
Tip: Remember that it is the stress and time pressure that is challenging – not the lack of knowledge! You need to learn to manage these, and the best way by far to achieve this is by practising tests in a safe environment before your actual test.

You’ll be asked a set of questions about your social, family and educational background. If you don’t want to answer a question, simply select the ‘Prefer not to say’ option. This data collection will take just 2-3 minutes to complete.
